APCNZ Mentorship Program
The African Professional Council of New Zealand Incorporated (APCNZ) is proud to introduce the APCNZ Mentorship Program — a strategic initiative designed to strengthen leadership, professional growth, and intergenerational excellence within the African professional community across Aotearoa New Zealand.
This program is more than mentorship. It is a platform for transformation, connection, and legacy building.
Across every profession, the journey toward excellence is often shaped by guidance, exposure, encouragement, and access to the right networks. Many emerging professionals, students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and young leaders possess extraordinary talent and ambition, yet often lack structured support systems that connect them to experienced professionals who understand both the opportunities and challenges within New Zealand’s professional environment.
The APCNZ Mentorship Program seeks to bridge that gap.
Through this initiative, APCNZ aims to connect aspiring professionals and future leaders with experienced mentors across diverse sectors including law, health, academia, engineering, finance, business, governance, technology, public service, and entrepreneurship.
The value of mentorship cannot be overstated.
A strong mentor can help accelerate career growth, provide practical guidance, strengthen confidence, expand professional networks, improve leadership capability, and support informed decision-making. A meaningful beginning for the APCNZ Mentorship Programme
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch of the African Professional Council of New Zealand Incorporated (APCNZ) Mentorship Programme at Victoria University of Wellington.
To the students and emerging professionals who attended: thank you for investing in your future and being part of this conversation. Your willingness to learn, connect and seek guidance is at the heart of this programme.
To our panellists, we sincerely appreciate you making time after work to share your expertise, experiences and practical advice. Your generosity reminds us how much we can contribute when we make ourselves available to support the next generation.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to the University’s African Student Union leadership for helping organise the event and bringing students together. We are grateful to the Vice-Chancellor and the University for supporting the launch by providing space on campus.
A special thank you to Esther Sovincet, APCNZ Lead Youth Mentor, for taking the initiative to lead this programme, and to our APCNZ executives for their support.
